We are honoured to be recognized by James Halliday AM as a five star winery. The five star category acknowledges “outstanding wineries producing wines of very high quality” Our cellar door is housed in a converted dairy, nestled in the Adelaide Hills vineyard between old vines and classic Australian bush. Guests can enjoy tailored wine tastings, guided vineyard walks or simply to relax with a glass of wine.
Our wines are produced from three contrasting and highly sought after vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. All vines are detail hand-pruned and the fruit selectively picked to nurture the wines from vineyard to glass. All our wines refelect our sense of style, exhibiting intense flavours, elegance, complexity and harmony.
STORY
At a local South Australian pub, a coin was flipped and it landed on tails, meaning my great great great grandfather, Joseph Gilbert, lost the bet and had to change his property name from ‘Karrawatta’ to ‘Pewsey Vale’. Joseph Gilbert made his first wine in 1847. Since then, the Gilbert family has continued to produce wine grapes and I am excited to reignite Karrawatta with my single vineyard, small batch wines.
